Engineer - Project Manager

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing and overseeing all services defined in the contractual documents. He or she provides design assistance and/or engineering services for wood structures, as well as their steel connections. The position requires the ability to develop, implement, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

The role and responsibilities vary depending on the project delivery method, whether design‑build, design‑assist, or supply‑only.

Among other things, the incumbent will assume the following responsibilities and perform the following tasks:
- Manage and oversee all services defined in the contractual documents;
- Provide design assistance or engineering services for wood structures (see below);
- Design connections (detailed engineering): define efficient connection concepts while considering geometry, required fire resistance, machine constraints, optimization for machining, aesthetic considerations, installation methods, etc.;
- Review structural drawings, erection drawings, connection details, shop drawings, as well as the 3D model, where applicable;
- Manage projects from fabrication to erection of the structure: ensure compliance with schedule and budget, define deliverable objectives, plan deliveries in accordance with the installation sequence, participate in coordination meetings, manage risks, respond to inquiries from involved parties, etc.;
- Perform partial field reviews and site follow‑up;
- Manage administrative documents such as requests for information, drawing issuances, change orders, etc.;
- Develop, implement, and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
- Perform other related duties.

 
Specific requirements

Holder of a university degree in civil engineering or construction engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience. Strong technical knowledge in structural engineering and experience in project management are considered strong assets. Proficiency in both French and English is required.
